Please reach us at oercolorado@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
OER stands for Open Educational Resources. These are free openly licensed educational materials for PK-12+ learners.
Public employees can create a free Microsite membership at OERColorado.com. Other educators and the general public can create a membership at our OER Commons Hub at https://oercommons.org/hubs/oercolorado. All educational materials on both sites are visible, searchable and downloadable without a membership.
Registering for a free membership allows OERColorado users to form and use groups, add OER they create to the site, share materials to their profile or user groups, and review, comment and tag resources. Your membership also helps us track site usage to ensure the project receives ongoing funding.
Open Education is a movement towards making knowledge widely available for learners by removing cost barriers. Open Educational Resources are materials that creators provide to learners with designated educational use in the licensing. For more information visit: https://www.oeglobal.org/
OERColorado can provide professional development services to help you learn more about or adopt OER materials. Reach out at OERColorado@gmail.com for more information.
Creative Commons (CC) copyright licenses allow creators to designate wider use of their intellectual property than traditional copyright licensing ©. Creative Commons licenses permit a continuum of access to the material. Many OER materials use CC licensing, but not all. Although OER materials are designed for broader access, it is always best to check the specific copyright license to make sure the materials fit your intended use. For more information about Creative Commons visit: https://creativecommons.org/
Public educators can add OER to OERColorado using the Open Author tool built into the OERColorado Microsite. This tool is free and easy to use with a membership profile. Watch this video to learn how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SH2m7SCSd-0. Other users can add OER to the OER Commons Hub using the same Open Author tool but will need to log-on with an OER Commons membership.
